Sinfonia Cymru and Aberytswyth Philomusica

Wednesday 24th July 2024
8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Cerddwn

Under our artistic director/conductor, Iwan Teifion Davies, Philomusica is very lucky to be part of this new project generously funded by Ty Cerdd, the Arts Council of Wales, and Aberystwyth University.

Cerddwn is a radically different developmental opportunity for composers. Aberystwyth University wants to create a world-leading hub for musical experimentation and innovation in mid-Wales. Working with community orchestra Aberystwyth Philomusica and leading professional orchestra Sinfonia Cymru, composers and mentoring performers will create visionary new works for orchestra. To kickstart this new project four Welsh composers have been commissioned, David John Roche, Nathan James Dearden, Mared Emlyn and Jefferson Lobo.

Philomusica is looking forward to working with David John Roche on a new composition very soon, as well as the opportunity to work with Sinfonia Cymru. A concert will take place as part of Musicfest on 24th July 2024.

For more information on Cerddwn please look on the Aberystwyth University website:
