A wonderful course taught by the brilliant clarinettist Anton Clarke Butler, held in one of the most beautiful parts of Wales as part of the prestigious Aberystwyth Musicfest.
An amazing opportunity to be taught by a young professional musician (Chineke! Orchestra) and also an experienced tutor. A keen educator, Anton holds the position of Head of Woodwind at Warwick School and is a Clarinet Tutor at the Junior Royal College of Music in London. Further education and outreach work has included tutoring for the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain, Sistema England Young Leaders, Sistema European Youth Orchestra, Orchestras for All and the Royal Academy of Music outreach programme.
Students are asked to:
– Prepare two pieces from the standard repertoire for clarinet and piano.
+ Two movements from any of these works by Mozart, Brahms, or Coleridge-Taylor Clarinet Quintet (Clarinet and String Quartet) or Brahms, Beethoven Clarinet Trios (Clarinet, Cello and Piano.)
The course will involve:
– Individual and group tuition
– Masterclasses
– Clarinet Ensemble sessions
– Workshops on – How to Practice, Aspects of Technique and Intonation and How to manage nerves.
– Performance showcase throughout the course.
Students are required to bring their Bb and A Clarinets and Music Stand.
Course Requirements
Grade – ABRSM 7 Minimum upwards
Age – 16 onwards
