Musicfest is delighted to present the Wales premiere of the opera The Railway Children.

This is a new opera by composer, Mark-Anthony Turnage, and librettist, Rachael Hewer, adapted from Edith Nesbit’s classic children’s book, and premiered at Glyndebourne during the 2025 season.This will be the second time it will have been performed after its initial run.

The orchestra is that of the Welsh National Opera conducted by Iwan Teifion Davies.

This project is supported by the Royal PhilharmonicSociety with funding from the RPS Susan Bradshaw Composers’ Fund.
