Dr Ron Morris has much to offer teachers at all stages of their careers. Whether you are fairly new to singing teaching or have a great deal of experience, there is always something new to learn, some new insight to gain, some unforeseen “light bulb moment” to be had. His teaching style is open, inclusive and immensely clear. All that he has to offer is backed up with deep and insightful scientific knowledge. The course will cover the basics of vocal pedagogy including: vocal anatomy, alignment, breathing and support, and phonation. Each component will be illustrated with appropriate exercises and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers. This course will be of particular interest and relevance to singing teachers, singers (both professional and advanced students), conductors and all those working with the singing voice. The daily rate for this course is £30, or a reduced rate of £80 for all 3 sessions. The teaching will be delivered online by Zoom. Zoom links will be sent by email the day before each session. Numbers will be limited so early booking is advised. www.musicfestaberystwyth.org Joan Rowlands, Administrator Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Dr Ron Morris is Senior Lecturer in Vocal Pedagogy and Vocal Health at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. Ron has had a long career as a speech and language therapist and audiologist as well as a singer of both opera and church music. He is co-author (with Ms Linda Hutchison) of a seminal text on breathing for singing If In Doubt Breathe Out and is also a major contributing author to Prof Janice Chapman’s widely acclaimed book on singing Singing and Teaching Singing – a Holistic Approach to Classical Voice. Ron is a very well respected teacher of singing technique and as such is in demand for workshops, conference presentations and vocal consultations in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Ron regularly works at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, The Royal Northern College of Music, The Royal Academy of Music and at St Paul’s Cathedral London as well as throughout Australia. As a speech and language therapist Ron has an interest in voice, voice disorders and articulation which routinely informs his singing teachingand vocal coaching.
