MusicFest returns in 2016, as Aberystwyth hosts the eight day classical music festival and international summer school MusicFest which will takes place from Saturday 23rd July – Saturday 30th July.

Over 100 concerts, recitals, courses, masterclasses, showcases, performances, and talks will be taking place as internationally renowned musicians take residence in Aberystwyth performing in the concerts and tutoring on the summer school.

The International Summer School includes students from all over the world including the US, Malta and Norway who travel to Aberystwyth to participate in this unique experience of intensive course alongside performance opportunities and learning through listening to highest calibre of classical music performed by world class musicians.

Courses include Classical Vocal, Vocal Pedagogy, Violin, Cello, Clarinet,  Viola, Jazz and Big Band, Conducting and Composition. The summer school also offers opportunities to take part in String Ensemble coaching sessions. New courses for 2016 will include Saxophone, composition and a piano and string ensemble course. Approximately 150 students visit for the week long courses along with their families with a number of exceptional local students also participating. Courses are supported by bursaries awarded by Friends of MusicFest. Booking for courses will open in January with early bird booking discounts available for booking made before the end of February.

The main concert programme will be announced in January and will include Tom Poster, Guy Johnston, the Orion Orchestra, The National Youth Brass Band of Wales and the National Youth Choir of Wales.
