Jamie Campbell was born in London in 1982. After reading music at Clare College, Cambridge he completed his studies at the University for Music and the Arts, Vienna. In addition to being Principal 2nd violin of Aurora Orchestra he is a founder member and leader of the Solstice Quartet and plays regularly as No. 3 1st violin with the English Chamber Orchestra. In addition he has appeared as guest leader with the London Sinfonietta, English Chamber Orchestra and lead the Dmitri Ensemble in their recording for Naxos of MacMillan’s Seven Last Words which received great critical aclaim. Jamie has premiered works by composers including Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Alexander Goehr, Nico Muhly and Giles Swayne. He plays a violin by Wiltrud Fauler, made in New York in 2005.
