Dr Ron Morris has much to offer teachers at all stages of their careers. Whether you are fairly new to singing teaching or have much experience, there is always something new to learn, some new insight to gain, some unforeseen “light bulb moment” to be had. His teaching style is open, inclusive and immensely clear. All that he has to offer is backed up with deep and insightful scientific knowledge.

This year’s Vocal Pedagogy Course will have a much greater emphasis on the practical application of pedagogical knowledge. Morning sessions will, as previously be devoted to the theory and use of Janice Chapman’s pedagogical model with this year’s course having more of an emphasis on identifying problems, identifying the sequence in which to tackle them with a focus on the core components of Primal Sound and Breathing and Support. The afternoon sessions will consist of discussions of suitable exercises including some work on Accent Method and ways to link this valuable tool into singing. These sessions are based on the recent book by Ron and his eminent co-author Linda Hutchison “If in Doubt Breathe Out”. Practical work with students in a masterclass format will also continue. Course participants may also take part in these sessions as student “guinea pigs” if they would like.

This course will be of particular interest and relevance to singers (both professional and advanced students), singing teachers, conductors and all those working with the singing voice. It will also be appropriate for those who attended last year’s course.

The course will run on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th July during the main festival. The cost of the course is £225 and includes free passes to all Musicfest concerts and recitals during your stay.

Accommodation is available in our Musicfest summer school accommodation at an additional cost of £40 each night.
