An intensive week of viola study. The course will include daily individual and/or small group classes, with a particularly focus on solo performance and specific tips on practice methods and techniques – a much neglected area. There will be plenty of time for individual practice and performance opportunities with an accompanist in various showcase concerts.
Graham Oppenheimer is one of the UK’s foremost and respected violists. As a soloist he has performed with orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony, East of England Orchestra and Lapeenranta Symphony Orchestra in Finland.
As a leading chamber musician Mr Oppenheimer has appeared with such artists as Yehudi Menuhin, Paul Tortellier, Murray Perahia, Imogen Cooper, Jack Brymer and James Galway.
Mr Oppenheimer is Senior Viola and Chamber Music Tutor at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester and has taught in Finland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy and the USA, as well as giving master classes across the UK.
The cost of the course is £595 which includes a pass to all concerts during MusicFest. Early bird discounts are available on all courses booked before 28th February. Bursaries are available for all students in full-time education.
