mf2016-jbb5wJoin Dan Swana and Andy Scott at MusicFest this year for a creative and enjoyable time discovering and playing charts in styles varying from Jazz, Funk, Salsa, Bossa Nova, Samba, Soul and Pop! The Jazz Course offers a 5 day opportunity to have a great time working in groups, developing improvisational skills and learning how to work with other musicians.

The course will be taught through small band rehearsals, masterclasses, individual lessons, open improvisation sessions and late night jam sessions.

The course will be led by Dan Swana and Andy Scott. Dan Swana is a London-based freelance musician performing across the UK and Internationally. Since receiving the coveted PPRNCM Gold Medal Award in 2008 Dan has gone on to perform at major venues around the world including Wembley Arena, The O2 and the Java Jazz Festival. Andy Scott As Tutor of Saxophone at the Royal Northern College of Music for the last decade, Andy has worked with Rob Buckland to develop one of the nest centres for saxophone study in Europe, producing world class graduates and ensembles. His work at RNCM encompasses individual tuition in Tenor Saxophone, coaching quartets and presenting saxophone classes.

The course is open to the following instruments; Trumpet, Trombone, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Piano, Electric Guitar, Double Bass/Electric Bass, Drums.

The course begins on Saturday 22nd July and finishes on Friday 28th July.

The cost of the course is £495 which includes a pass to all concerts during MusicFest. Bursaries are available for all students in full-time education.
