An opportunity to work intensively with Nicholas Jones on all aspects of cello playing. Teaching will take the form of individual lessons, workshops, discussions and performance classes. Participants should bring at least two contrasting works and some studies that they wish to work on. Nicholas would like to receive an indication of intended repertoire well before the start of the course. They will also be time for individual daily practice, which will be an integral part of the course. Cellists will also be assigned to chamber groups.
The course will be taught by Nicholas Jones who combines an international career as a chamber musician, soloist and recitalist with his position as Head of Strings at Chetham’s School of Music and Tutor in Cello at the RNCM. He performs and teaches regularly around the UK and in Europe, including the Music in Great Irish Houses Festival, St Cyprien Festival (France), Valdres Festival (Norway), Siena Music Festival (Italy), where he gave the world première of a new work by Italian composer, Simone Fontanelli.
The cost of the course is £595 which includes a pass to all concerts during MusicFest. Bursaries are available for all students in full-time education.
